The Service-Learning Program (SLP) is grounded in the Ignatian pedagogical paradigm, emphasizing learning through engagement with the community and social environment. The program aims to train students to appreciate the meaning of human dignity through understanding, awareness, compassion, and commitment.

Through the SLP, ISJB believes that achieving justice, love, and peace requires education that fosters competence, awareness, and compassion. Students are encouraged to act as individuals committed to inclusivity, freedom, and dignity for all, cooperating with others to reform society and its structures.

The SLP, an annual AJCU-AP program, provides students with real-world learning experiences through community service.

It offers students the opportunity to engage with marginalized communities and bring these experiences back to the classroom to develop a deeper understanding and perspective on poverty and social justice.

Through participation in the SLP, students will be able to:

1. Integrate classroom learning with community service, linking academic knowledge to practical application.
2. Apply Ignatian pedagogy in the community, embodying the values of "contemplation in action."
3. Observe and reflect on rural community realities, understanding the mission of Jesus in serving life and promoting justice.
4. Engage in reflective exercises, including group sessions and personal reflection.
5. Participate in volunteer work to demonstrate solidarity with the community.
6. Present the impact of Jesuit education on local districts and rural communities.
7. Celebrate and appreciate local culture to value community traditions and customs.
8. Reflect on program outcomes through post-activity sessions to consolidate learning and personal growth.
